Trouble is I can't understand the instructions! and lose the will to live after a while.<br />It's so true but soul-destroying to read what you say about marketing. <br />One writer whose first novel was highly pushed sold 60,000 copies. His 2nd novel with zero publicity sold less than 4,000. <br />But small publishers don't have large publicity budgets while large houses spend it all on their big hitters.<br /> <br />As for the local market - from small acorns big oaks grow - I hope! I had bookmarks made & carry them around with me to give out everywhere I go. And sometimes at the most unlikely places! If they don't read themselves then these folk will know someone who does: friend, relative, colleague. I sold 2 books to the picture framer today!
